How to install YuyuFrame, step by step

From the installer to your first game with the modules, in five steps.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
  • A Microsoft account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition.
  • An Internet connection for the first install of each version.

On Windows

    Download the installer

    Get the .exe file of the latest version, from this site’s download button or straight from the GitHub releases page. It’s the same file: it is built by GitHub Actions from the public code.

    Run the installer

    Open the downloaded file. Windows may show “Windows protected your PC”: the executable is not yet signed with a publisher certificate. Click More info, then Run anyway. Why this warning?

    Then follow the installer. The launcher opens at the end.

    Sign in with Microsoft

    Add your account: the launcher shows a code and the link to Microsoft’s sign-in page, where you enter the code and sign in. Your password is typed on Microsoft’s site, never in YuyuFrame. You need an account that owns Minecraft: Java Edition.

    Create an instance

    An instance is a separate Minecraft install, with its own mods, worlds and settings. Pick the version:

    • 1.8.9 vanilla for classic PvP, with the in-game modules;
    • 1.21.11 or 26.1 to 26.3 for recent versions, with the modules;
    • any other version, or Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Quilt to play modded.

    No need to install Java: the launcher downloads the right version for each instance.

    Play, and open the YuyuFrame menu

    Launch the instance. In game, press Right Shift to open the YuyuFrame menu: turn modules on one by one, tweak them, place the HUD elements. The key can be changed in the menu’s general settings. Each module is described on the modules page.

On macOS and Linux

YuyuFrame is not available on macOS or Linux yet. Those versions will be announced in the patch notes when they are ready.

Updates and uninstalling

The launcher updates itself. Every update is signed: a file we did not publish is rejected.

To uninstall, go to Windows Settings → Installed apps. Your instances, worlds and settings are in %APPDATA%\YuyuFrame: back up your worlds before deleting that folder.
